Are you an experienced community dragon boat coach looking for a chance to make your mark on Scugog's emerging paddling community?
Come find out what Scugog Dragon Boat Club is all about!
Our paddlers are mostly beginners. We offer beginner sessions for new paddlers, evening social paddles, 5-week learn-to-race programs, and early morning sunrise paddles.
Our programming schedule for 2024 will be tailored to our coaches' schedules, and coaching plans/workouts are provided by the Club's programming committee.
At SDBC, we win when every single paddler wants to come back next week. We focus on creating a positive, welcoming, inclusive environment.
If you're a kind, enthusiastic, motivating person who is excited to spread the dragon boat love, join us for a virtual info session on August 23, 2023, from 8-9pm.
This session will provide an overview of our club, what we're looking for in our coaches, an overview of our typical annual programming schedule, and information on next steps.
All of our coaches must be comfortable steering the dragon boat. Completion of a steers course is a bonus.
Previous coaching experience is preferred. Completion of the DBC Level 1 Community Coaching course is a bonus, but not required.
If you're selected as a coach, you will be required to complete Safe Sport, and a CPR/First Aid Course (paid by SDBC).
All of our coaches are independent contractors, and the rate of pay is $80 per practice, plus $20 per day for travel to Port Perry.
