Cancellation Policy

Sometimes we have to cancel practice.

Cancelling practice is our least favourite thing to do. But sometimes it happens!

Here are some of the few reasons we would cancel a session:

  • Decent chance of lightning during practice
  • Air Quality Health Index of 7 or more
  • The coach is ill and the backup is unavailable

Events
(E.g. Mother’s Day, Glow Paddle)

If it looks like we may get some bad weather, we will email and send a text message to all participants. For evening events, this will happen at or before 2pm. For morning events, this will happen at or before 8pm the night before.

If your event is cancelled, you will receive a refund.

Drop-in and Regular Programming
(E.g. Intro to Paddling, Fitness and Fun, Ready to Race)

If it looks like we may get some bad weather, we will email and send a text message to all participants at or before 2pm.

If a practice is cancelled, we will do our best to reschedule. You will also receive a credit to your account to use toward future dragon boat sessions

Scugog Lakers Practices

We show up to practice, and the coach determines onsite whether it is safe to practice.

Boat Rentals and Team Practices

If you booked our boat and coaches for an extra practice for the Port Perry Dragon Boat Festival, we will contact your team captain to relay any potential cancellations. We will work with your coach to either re-book at an alternative time, or provide a refund.

Cancellation due to Low Registration

In rare instances, we may need to cancel a session if we don’t have enough participants. We check the registration numbers 24 hours before your session starts. If we don’t have enough humans, we will cancel your session and you will receive a full refund.

Participant cancellation / No-shows

If you have registered for a program or event, you may cancel up to 7 days before the first session, and you will receive a refund.

If you cancel between 2-7 days before the first session, you will receive an account credit that you can use toward future programs.

If you cancel within 48 hours of your session, if you do not show up, or if you do not show up on time (i.e. you literally missed the boat), you are not eligible for a refund or account credit.
