New Steers Program

Turning new steers into great steers!

We know it can be tough finding opportunities to gain skills and experience in steering. We also know that the only way our sport can grow is by developing news steerspeople.

Our SDBC New Steers Program can accept up to two participants per season. Each participant will attend practices on alternating Mondays. Our experienced coaches will help the new steers develop skills and confidence over the summer. New Steers Program participants will have the opportunity to steer for the SDBC teams at local festivals.

Participants must:

• Be available for Monday evening practices in Port Perry
• Be available to steer on race day
• Have some experience in a dragon boat (E.g. as a paddler or coach). No steering experience is required.

Participants will also be required to complete CAC’s free, online Safe Sport training before beginning the program.
