Who we are
The Scugog Lakers is a recreational women’s dragon boat team in Port Perry. Our goals are:
- Be great humans, on and off the water
- Make great friends
- Stay physically active and enjoy the lake
- Become better paddlers and athletes every day
- Have a ton of fun at local races
Who can join
The Scugog Lakers is open to any person who identifies as a woman, who is over 16 years old, and who has paddled in at least one dragon boat race before.
This team is perfect for women who are interested in committing to a full-season team.
If you’re interested in paddling, but don’t fit these criteria, we’d love to see you at one of our other on-water programs!
How it Works
When you register for the Lakers, you pay a team fee of $250 ($200 if you register before March 1).
By April 1st, indicate which races you want to participate in, and pay only for the races you are attending ($75 per race)
Lakers Races 2026:
- Toronto Women’s Dragon Boat Festival, Brampton: May 24th
- Mississauga Dragon Boat Festival: June 20th
- Barrie Dragon Boat Festival: August 15th
- GWN Tim Hortons Festival, Toronto: September 12-13
Lakers Practices 2026:
Starting as soon as we get the dock in the water, practices are:
- Mondays, 7-8pm (Race-prep only)
- Wednesdays, 7-8pm
